New Year, New layout

As the New year, so does another layout. This time one in a shoebox. Assegaaibos Road is 33cm long by 29cm wide with a small bolt on fiddleyard which is designed to be able to hold a NG15 or a NGG16. The Shed's overall capacity is 3 NG15s/Garratts with two in the shed and one on the small side track to the shed's left. All points are Peco 9 inch set track to make use of the amount of space available. It takes inspiration from mainly facilities on the Avontuur Line mainly Humewood Road steam sheds and the later Assegaaibos sheds.

All the buildings are either scratchbuilt or modified kits with the stock being either Underground Models or Boston Largs Works kits built up to represent South African prototypes.

Speaking of South African Prototypes my first NG15, NG17, had its first big running session at the 009 Society local group pulling 10 coach trains up and down the test track with apparent ease. I would have run more, but I ran out of serviceable coaches!

Not a bad load for a engine that was only built a couple of weeks ago. I'll be happier if it manages 12 coaches but until I can fix the remaining coaches and get back down to the test track, it won't be for at least 3 weeks. And to think I'll eventually have 3 of these beasties running.

Cheers,

Jon
