Afternoon all,
Since my last 009 related post, not a lot's happened but that doesn't mean I've been doing nothing. Recently, I got my hands on 9 FR Quarryman Coaches, 3 FR style bogie coaches, another VoR Coach along with multiple repaints of existing stock. Plus, something completely different in the form of a Ratiobash.
The 9 Quarryman Coaches have been split into two 4 coach sets with the 9th (ironically the only one not painted red), having its running gear removed and turned into a grounded coach body on the works layout.
The VoR Coach has been turned into a representation of FR No.26 as it ran in the early 1960s. Its the latest in a set of eventually 6 coaches, all being repainted/converted to allow them to run on 'Doveston' which is set in north west wales during the 1960s.
Below, its shown with FR 'Bowsiders' 17 and 20 along with FR No. 11 which is the slowly being built up 1960s set.
The 3 FR style coaches are all Parkside dundas kits based on FR No.10. So far I've built 2, a all 3rd coach and a 1st Observation Coach. The plan is to finish them both in unlined Red with black running gear. The Ratiobash is the biggest carriage width and hieght wise I've ever got to run on my 009 layouts. Effective a Ratio 4 wheeled coach for OO mounted on two N gauge bogies to run on 009. I think the only thing that makes it look small is 'Rhur' or possibly a WHR NGG16. It came with a WLLR style Brake Van which has had custom couplings added to it to allow the pair to run as a small set.
One of the big repaints has been 'Palmerston'. Now on its 7th coat of paint (yes, I've been counting) and work on the saddle tanks to remove some of the parts of the kit intended for 'Prince', 'Palmerston' is now finished. Although, with the possibility of another England on the horizon, 'Palmerston' might not last very long.......
Until Next time,
Jon
